From Bagnara Calabra, Southern Italy, Giuseppe (aka PATA) started playing acoustic guitar at the age of 10, and bass became his main instrument at 14. After several years spent in Milan as a performer and arranger, and a short period of live sessions and recordings at Berklee College of Music in Boston, he finally moved to LA. It is always exciting to watch and hear his ability to blend African music, Jamaican reggae and Western pop and rock with a little bit of “tarantella” (native to his homeland Calabria) into one special orchestral sound. His wide range of works and collaborations as a studio and live performer, producer and composer ranges from Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton, Stewart Levine, Hugh Masakela, Lalo Schifrin, Martin Tillman, Herbie Hancock to Eddie Kramer, Aika, Nicolas Farmakalidis, Warren Cuccurullo, Terry Bozzio, Sunny Levine, Mickey Avalon, Mocean Worker, Pete Yorn, Holly Palmer, Eric Johnson, Marty Friedman, Ayaka Hirahara, Talvin Singh, Eamon Ryland, Marco Marinangeli and David Sanborn, to name a few, as well as recording sessions at Capitol Studios, Paramount, Cello Studios, Ocean Way Studios, The Village Recorder, Paul Allen’s Vulcan, Forum Village Rome, etc.
His works include soundtrack-trailer music for the movie "Celeste and Jesse Forever" directed by Lee Toland Krieger, “Funny People”, directed by Judd Apatow, and the “Break Up” album by singer-songwriter Pete Yorn & actress-singer Scarlett Johansson, soundtrack music for CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) 2010 and HBO’s Entourage Season 8. Co-producer and arranger for David Bowie`s “Golden Years” remix with Sunny Levine and DJ Douridas (KCRW). Disney and Cartoon Network productions and commercials for Nissan and Citizen, Japan. Bass player live for THE OLMS, the new Pete Yorn project with J.D. King, with Jonny Polonsky on guitar and Malcom Cross on drums. The band has been successfully part of the iTunes Festival in London, the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans, as well as The Jay Leno Show, 2013. Harvest Records. Currently he is working and developing his special orchestral sound collaborating with Film directors, Animators, Theatrical and Dance Companies, VJs and Street Artists. “The only thing I concern when Music is performed is the Sound...Energy and Vibration...The Meaning. Sometime I love silence, rarely some noise...I deeply need those to be touched by harmony and melody. I love any source of sound...from a wonderful acoustic cello to a moog plug-in for iPad...from an analog synth to an old vertical piano…from a magic snare to a deep bass tone. Any genre of Music...Wherever it comes from, it has to be organic...real. This always comes not from the instrument itself but from the musician intention, instinct, sensibility and awareness”. GP

At the age of 2, Zak started playing on his mom’s pots and pans, then quickly moved on to a fabulous “Toys R’ Us” kit. Through the tutelage of his father, a world renowned guitarist, Zak began to learn the “ins and outs” of the music business and all that is entailed.
Zak has had the great opportunity to learn from some of the best drummers in the world. While always in music education, he was also able to receive one on one training from friend and mentor Bill Lordan (Robin Trower, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix). Zak also received training and lessons from greats like Dennis Chambers, Kenny Aronoff and Mike Mangini along the way. But most importantly, Zak embraces the sound, style and musicality of John Bonham.
While growing up in Wisconsin, Zak performed with some of the most talented players and groups in the Midwest. He also had the opportunity to develop his chops in the Bay Port Drum Line. After finishing his schooling at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Zak made the move to Los Angeles to further his music career.
While in L.A, Zak has recorded/played with Stevie Wonder, Karmin, The B-52′s, Bitter:Sweet, Christian Martucci (Stone Sour), The Raskins, Ben Moody (Evanescence), Bruce Kulick (Kiss), Phil-X (Bon Jovi), Brian Howes, Davey Rieley, Mike Starr (Alice in Chains), In Theory, The Shrill, Joshua Ketchmark, The Lonely Drunks Club and many more!
When Zak is not touring, he can be found in any number of recording studios in Southern California. He also collaborates with other producers and engineers, co-producing and drumming for some of the best bands/artists LA has to offer.
